The library does not accept donations of textbooks, magazines, encyclopedia sets, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, cassettes, books on tape, or videotapes. Donations are accepted year-round and may be dropped off at any time during regular library hours. Please do not leave donations outside the library or in the book drop.

In libraries, books are arranged subject-wise in shelf. A certain number is given to each book and the number and the titles are written in a register. This helps in their easy location. One can easily get the book of one’s choice. There is arrangement of seats in libraries. Some people study in library and many people like the books to read at home.

Donate Books Madison Public Library accepts gifts of new or gently-used books, magazines, DVDs, and music or books on compact disc. Decisions on whether and how donated items will be added to the Library’s collections are based on the same evaluative criteria that are applied to purchased materials.

Donated books and materials will be incorporated into the Library’s book collection or sold in the Friends of the Norfolk Public Library book sales to benefit the Library. All donations are tax-deductible and can be dropped off at any NPL location if less than three boxes at a time.

About Donating Materials Your Library is pleased to receive your donations of gently used books and other materials. Richardson Public Library gladly accepts donations of books, magazines, and audio or visual materials. Donations that are in good condition and meet the library’s collection development guidelines may be added to the collection. Most of the remaining donations will go to the Friends of the Richardson Library for the book sales.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept material that is out of date, in poor physical condition, or in formats that the library does not offer. Appropriate items can be dropped off at the Service Desk at any Vaughan Public Libraries branch; Vaughan Public Libraries assumes unconditional ownership of all donations and the disposition of these items.

My real education, the superstructure, the details, the true architecture, I got out of the public library. For an impoverished child whose family could not afford to buy books, the library was the open door to wonder and achievement, and I can never be sufficiently grateful that I had the wit to charge through that door and make the most of it.

Similarly, the roles and missions of public library have been shifted from recreational reading to acting as active educational, economic and social agents.
